Later in the season, Sky and her sister show frustration with the lack of options in the dating pool at Cal U for black women. She confronts Doug Edwards about why he’s always seen with white women and after his reasonable explanation, it leads to him dating her sister.

Grown-ish (Season 2)[]

Sky doesn’t get as much storyline as her sister in season 2 but she stands out with her quick wits and charm. When her sister suggests expressing themselves more on social media in a sexual manner for more exposure to their careers, she initially agrees. Eventually, Sky opens up to Jazz about the exploitation they’re doing and feels like if they have to sexualize themselves in order to make money, she’s not down for it. She makes it clear that she just wants to work hard and run track, much to the dismay of her sister. Sky meets Zoey’s brother, Andre Johnson, Jr. and is instantly attracted to him. They have a short term fling which Sky puts a stop to when she sees him again at the Johnson house, even though she still somehow ends up in the bathtub with him. During the Fundie Run, Sky falls and gets a hairline fracture which doesn’t allow her to run in the finals.

Grown-ish (Season 3)[]

Sky meets a guy named Rodney at a house party thrown by her, Jazz and Ana. Initially, they get off on the wrong foot but eventually he begins to flirt and she shows reciprocation. Sky is enjoying dating Rodney until she has an issue with finding out he’s white and not black. She gets passed it when she realizes she likes him too much to not be with him. Sky worked really hard over the summer to rehab her leg and she came back stronger and faster than ever. She gets frustrated with her sister when she starts to lose focus of track because of her relationship. Sky is reunited with Junior when he visits to get her back but she turns him down gently. When Sky and her sister race in the Olympic trials, Sky is the only one to make it. At the end of the season, she leaves for Tokyo, after gaining a spot on the Olympic team.

After she gets into a relationship with Rodney, Junior visits Cal U to get Sky back. She assures him that she has moved on and he should to. When Junior accepts it, she tells him that she likes that he fought for her and to slide in her dm’s sometimes, suggesting that she’s still interested.

Sky first meets Rodney during an HBCU style party that she, Jazz and Ana threw in their house backyard. Sky kicked him out because he didn’t have cash to get into the party. Rodney sneaks into the party at some point and is eventually caught by Sky. He offers to make it up to her by taking her out and begins to flirt with her, which is a nice surprise to Sky. Rodney and Sky start dating and she seems to adore him. Everything is going well, until she finds out that he’s white after believing he was black. Rodney is hurt and disappointed that this is an issue for her and it causes a small rift between them. She finally explains to him that what’s been bothering her is that Jazz and Doug’s relationship is rooted in a shared cultural experience because both of them are black and that they’ll never be able to have that. Rodney is sad at hearing this but Sky also lets him know how much she likes him and how she can’t stop thinking about him. Sky kisses him to show him that she chooses being with him. Rodney and Sky continue to date and they have a nice, healthy relationship. It is revealed that Rodney told Sky he loved her. Sky’s ex fling and Zoey’s brother, Andre Johnson, Jr. shows up at some point to get Sky back. Rodney and Junior meet and throw shade at each other. It is unknown if they’re still together since the post pandemic time jump in the show and with Sky still in Tokyo.
